Why it exists
Upload forms for jobs, exams, banks and government services often accept PDFs only up to a small size. Most online compressors solve this by uploading your file to their servers, which is uncomfortable when the document is an ID proof, a mark sheet or a bank statement.
The PDF Compressor does the work inside your browser instead. Your document stays on your device from start to finish.
Principles
- Private by design. There is no upload step to opt out of. The site has no server-side processing at all.
- Honest results. You see the exact size, down to the byte. If a size limit can’t be reached, the tool says so and shows the smallest version it managed.
- Quality where it matters. Text, fonts, links and drawings are never turned into pictures. Only images that are larger than needed are reduced.
- For everyone. The site works on phones and computers, with a keyboard or a screen reader, in English and Hindi.
How it is built
The site is a set of static pages. The compression engine combines qpdf for reading and writing PDFs with MozJPEG for images, both running in your browser as WebAssembly. See how it works for the details.
