Privacy policy

The short version is that your PDFs never leave your device. This page explains exactly what that means and what limited technical data exists.

Your PDF files

PDFs you compress are processed entirely inside your web browser, on your own device. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else, and we have no way to see, store or recover them. The compressed copy is created in your browser’s memory and is discarded when you close or refresh the page.

What your browser downloads

When you start using the compressor, your browser downloads its engine (under 2 MB of WebAssembly and JavaScript) from this site, just like the rest of the page. Those are ordinary requests for files from our site; they don’t carry any part of your PDF. The site has no server-side code that could receive a file, and its Content Security Policy lets the page and its compression worker connect only to this site.

Check it yourself

  1. Open your browser’s developer tools and select the Network tab.
  2. Compress a PDF.
  3. You’ll see only downloads of the site’s own files. Nothing is sent with your document in it.

What this can’t protect against

Processing on your device keeps your PDF away from our servers and anyone else’s. Some things are still outside what a website can control:

  • Browser extensions. An extension allowed to read the pages you visit can read this one too, including a file you open here.
  • Your device. Malware, or another person using your device, is beyond what any website can guard against.
  • The compressed file. It is saved wherever your browser saves downloads, like any other file. What happens when you upload it to a form is up to that site.
  • The code you run. Each visit runs the files this site serves at that moment. The steps above let you check on any visit that nothing is sent.

No accounts, no tracking cookies

The site has no sign-up, no login and no user accounts. It does not set cookies. The only thing it stores in your browser is your light or dark theme, and only if you change it; that setting stays on your device and says nothing about you or your files.

Analytics and advertising

The site currently uses no analytics, advertising or other third-party tracking scripts. If that changes, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect, and any analytics will be chosen so they don’t identify you personally.

Technical logs kept by our hosting provider

Like any website, the pages are delivered by a hosting provider. When your browser requests a page, that provider may automatically record standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request, to keep the service secure and working. These records concern page requests only and never include the contents of your PDFs.

Children

The site does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date.
